JOHN AMOS TV/FILM STAR & FOUNDER
A native of East OrangeNew Jersey, John Amos is best known for his hit character roles such as the adult Kunta Kinte in the Emmy Winning mini-series, ROOTS. His motion picture credits include: COMING TO AMERICA, co-starring with Eddie Murphy and the blockbuster DIE HARD II, with Bruce Willis. While his television credits are too numerous to mention, he is equally known for his popular role as James Evans in the classic sitcom, GOOD TIMES, and Admiral Percy Fitzwallace on NBC’s THE WEST WING.
Mr. Amos devotes a great deal of time to his children's nonprofit, The Halley’s Comet Foundation, which he founded to create positive alternatives to young people through its nautical and maritime programs. Working with a team of outstanding professionals in the educational sector and U.S. military sector, Amos has created a solid team of committed individuals who work to assist all youth..from at risk to non at risk...to develop their self-esteem,self-confidence, and self awareness of the gifts they have inside of them. In addition, the sailing programs give the kids a more diverse and well rounded understanding of cultures and the world around them.
